Preparations

Good preparation is important to be successful each lesson. So we ask you to complete the relevant eLearning chapter including the knowledge review and quiz before the start of each confined water lesson.

nb:

  • In the knowledge review, multiple answers are possible for some questions:
    • these can be recognized by a square selection field    vierkant
    • Questions to which only one answer is possible can be recognized by a round selection field  rond
  • Only 1 answer is possible during the quizes and exam
    • if your score is lower than 75%, you will have to take the quiz or exam again.
  • You may skip the following parts:
    • Recreational Dive Planner (RDP) Use

    • Resources
    • eRDPml Calculator
  • During theory lesson 3 we explain in class how to plan a dive with a dive computer
  • We advise you not to take the exam until after theory lesson 3, because we will only deal with computer planning then
  • The exam must be completed prior to the last pool session

Skills

During every lesson in the pool we teach you new skills.

Each eLearning chapter contains a section “your skills as a diver“. It describes which skills you do in the swimming pool lesson and you will also find videos demonstrating the relevant skill. In addition, ABC Dive has also made its own demo videos of all skills. Click on [Demo’s vaardigheden zwembadlessen 1 t/m 5] in the menu on the left. A new page will then open showing the demos in the order in which they are given during the lesson.

We would like to ask you to carefully view these demos in preparation for each lesson. So in addition to the demos in the eLearning. Do this 1 or 2 days before the pool lesson so that you remember them well.

From lesson 2: Please pay extra attention to the mnemonics, which can be found on the left in the menu [ezelsbruggetjes]. Also take a good look at this. It helps to practice/repeat them dry in front of the mirror.

Information about the open water lessons

On Sundays you are expected at ABC Dive no later than 6:00 am to collect your diving equipment. Because Vinkeveen is a popular diving spot and attracts many visitors, being on time is a must. This means that we want to be in Vinkeveen no later than 7:00 am.

Please enter the classroom at the backside of the building, because the restaurant is closed. We then grab all the diving materials and load them into our own cars. We make agreements about going directly, transportation, riding, etc. during the last lesson.

The intention is for everyone to transport as much of their own equipment as possible. Please note: we cannot possibly take all students with complete diving equipment. The idea is that you drive yourself and transport your own diving equipment. Riding with others is usually not a problem and we advise as much as possible, because the fewer cars the better, because the parking lot in Vinkeveen is quite busy.

Don’t have your own transport? Please let us know so that we can arrange something together! We leave for Vinkeveen at 6:15 at the latest. If we leave later, we can forget about it at the dive site with parking spaces! We drive behind each other, so that we can indicate approximately where you should park the car.

We expect to be back in Almere around 2:00 PM, after which you will rinse your own diving equipment and return it to the storage space in the swimming pool.

Bring your own bread and drinks (hot and cold), because there is nothing available there! A snack, cookie, fruit, etc. is always ok. Also take a (large) towel and a warm, preferably waterproof and windproof  jacket with you. We bring coffee and tea.

Also bring sunglasses, a hat and possibly sunscreen, if the sun is shining. We spend a lot of time along the water. If the weather is bad, bring enough warm clothes and a hat.

In addition, please bring tights (panty). This makes putting on and taking off your diving suit a lot easier.

There are toilets, but no toilet paper. So take it with you.
